1Who we are

Only Lesbians is a free UK dating service. We are the controller of the personal information described here. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the rights you have under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

Questions and requests: hello@onlylesbians.co.uk. You can also use the contact form.

2What we collect

  • Account details: username, email address, and a hashed password.
  • Profile details you choose to add: date of birth, gender, who you want to meet, town, description, and the other profile answers.
  • Photos and videos you upload.
  • A photo of your ID, if you verify your age. The check is free. The image is deleted once that check is finished. We keep the result and the date, not the document. Your legal name is not shown on your profile.
  • Messages and notifications on the site.
  • Video calls between members. A call may be kept so we can review a safety report. It is not shown to other members.
  • Technical information such as your IP address, used to keep the site secure.
  • A login record stored in your browser so you can stay signed in.

3Why we use it

  • To provide the service. Creating your account, showing your profile, and delivering messages. This is necessary for the contract with you.
  • To confirm you are 18 or over. Until the check is done, other members' photos stay blurred, and messages, likes, flirts, and video uploads stay closed. The ID image is special-category data, used only for that check, then deleted.
  • To keep the site safe. Messages may be monitored for member safety, including to investigate abuse, fraud, and scams. A video call may be reviewed when a report needs it. This is our legitimate interest, and a legal obligation where we must help the police or a regulator.
  • To email you about your account. Activation, age-check results, and password help. We do not send marketing email, and we do not sell or share your information with advertisers or data brokers.

4Who else sees it

Other members can see the profile and photos you choose to make visible, and the messages you send them. We may also read messages to keep members safe.

Google Fonts loads the typefaces. A profile can show a town map drawn from OpenStreetMap. Those requests send your IP address to Google or the OpenStreetMap tile service.

We share information with the police or another authority when the law requires it, or when it is necessary to investigate abuse. On Only Amour, Google Ads measures visits from our advertisements and can set a cookie. We do not use an analytics product.

5How long we keep it

We keep your account for as long as you use Only Lesbians. When you delete your account we remove your profile, photos, videos, photo ID, and the messages you sent, and we replace your name and email with an anonymous record so the database stays consistent.

If the account has violation points, deletion does not clear that safety record. We keep a one-way hash of the email address, the points, and a short note of what was tried. The hash cannot be turned back into the address, and we do not use it to contact you. If that address is used to open another account, the points are added to it. A different spelling that reaches the same inbox, such as a plus sign or dots in a Gmail address, is treated as the same address. This is our legitimate interest in protecting members. The UK GDPR right to erasure does not require us to delete a record we still need for that purpose.

The photo ID image is deleted as soon as the age check is approved or rejected. A record that the check happened, and when, can remain with the anonymous account. A video call is deleted after 90 days unless it is needed for a safety review.

6Your rights

You can, at any time:

  • See and correct your profile from your account.
  • Download a copy of the personal information we hold (a JSON file).
  • Delete your account. You will be asked for your password. Violation points tied to the email address can remain, as described above.
  • Ask us to restrict or stop a particular use of your information, or object to processing based on legitimate interests.
  • Complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

Email hello@onlylesbians.co.uk if you want help with any of these. We will not change this policy in a way that reduces your rights without telling you.
